Some tips from Ken.

Things that we all have seen, and some have caused major upsets in the weigh in.

These tips should be useful to ALL junior players

Maybe a timely
reminder to some seniors as well. Could save a lot of tears and heartache
especially from the poor old over worked Tournament Director

Before You Leave Home:-

1) Make sure your Judo Gi is clean and check the fit. If you have doubts
about the fit, seek the advice of your club coach. Make sure you are clean
with
short finger and toe nails.

2) Take zoris with you to wear when you are off the mat. Socks are NOT good
enough, if you have not got zoris then beach 'flip flops' or some sort of
easy to remove     footwear is an advantage.

3)
Girls don't forget a plain white tee-shirt must be worn under the jacket.

4) DO NOT FORGET YOUR LICENSE.

5) Make sure you allow plenty of time to arrive at the specified weigh in
time. It is a good idea to have the
Sports Centre telephone number with you
in case you are held up, then you can contact the
Tournament Director via
the Sports Centre, then be included in the draw and hopefully the
Competition provided you arrive before your Category starts.

When You Arrive:-

1) Weigh in at your specified time and remember to LEAVE your weigh in card
in the weigh in room. Again DO NOT FORGET YOUR LICENSE. Make sure you know
your weight category in case you have changed weight.

In the Competition Arena:-

1) Pay attention to the announcements so that you go to the correct mat when
you are called.

2) The Recorder at the mat will check off all the names he/she has on the
list. If your name is not called for any reason, ask politely for a check to
be made.

3) Remember your footwear. Off the mat footwear on, on the mat footwear off.
Failure to remember can lead to elimination from the Competition completely.

4) Remove ALL hard objects. Ear rings, rings, piercing, watches and
hair bands that have hard 'bobbles' or thin metal decoration.

5) Listen carefully for your contests to be called. First name called always
wears the RED belt (Blue suit)

6) Remember the etiquette when entering and leaving the contest area, your
Club Coach should have taught this to you.

7)
When you win your contest give you name to the Recorder at the table.
This helps avoid mistakes.

8) DO NOT LEAVE THE CONTEST AREA UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED WHAT TO DO

NEXT. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ASK POLITELY.

If you need to leave the Area during the running of the Category ASK PERMISSION FIRST.
